EVERYTHING YOU NEED FOR YOUR BABY & BABY NURSERY
Diapers to playpens & sleepers to cribs, we dive right into outfitting your nursery with eveything you will need for your bundle of joy.
FIRST fundamentals of parenting...diapers. Do you choose environmentally friendly washable diapers or disposables? If you choose washable diapers, which laundry soap do you choose? I chose good old Ivory Snow. It's mild for the baby's skin & cleans well. I loved hanging the diapers in the sun to disinfect naturally. I think I soaked the diapers in vinegar for 2 hours to disinfect, when sunshine was scarse?
I loved the little onesies with feet in them. For babies who tend to scratch themselves, there are wonderful, cute outfits which cover their hands.
There are amazing cribs & change table varieties. Consider your back when you choose your change table height. You want a comfortable height for you & your baby to look into each other's faces for wonderful bonding. You want to be able to easily lift your little one as he/she/they grow.
Think about keeping everything easy to access so you can concentrate on your baby & reach all the baby items you need naturally & with little effort. I liked open shelving for wipes, washcloths, powder, diaper cream, etc. I liked drawers for clothing.
You will want a monitor & a diaper bucket.
Bath time is wonderful! Choose a nice tub, towels, washcloths. Here's a tip I wish I had: Before every using a washcloth on your baby, rub it on your own face to know its softness. My hand had perceived a washcloth as being the softest of all we had so I usually used that one. When I finally did test that washcloth with my face, it was a harsh washcloth. :(
A good change pad is quilted & washable, in my opinion. For home I liked a fabric change pad. When we were out I used a vinyl pad with stuffing which was easily wiped clean.
I had a rocker instead of a glider in my nursery. Some people like the glider rockers to prevent motion sickness. I understand the linear motion is the difference the glider rocker offers anyone who has trouble with rockers. Good to look into this.
To go out you need a car seat, stroller, a back pack or front carrier & a diaper bag. Your diaper bag needs to be stocked with diapers, wipes, powder, diaper salve or cream, soother, teething ring, snack pack, change pad, extra outfits, toys, etc.
Remember, this is a changing collection as your baby grows & your child's needs change.
